A constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)
(AUTONOMOUS ORGANISATION UNDER THE DEPT. OF SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH, MINISTRY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, GOVT. OF INDIA)
Objectives
1. Testing and reporting of purity of raw materials used in fireworks
2. Composition analysis of firework products
3. Emission testing – air emissions & noise
4. Accreditations – Quality control
5. Emissions factors | Baseline emission values
Scope of the project is to support firework industry by providing testing of firework materials and emission to meet the regulatory requirements of PESO & CPCB
Location of RACE Facility
1. RACE facility was set-up in two locations (1) CSIR-NEERI Nagpur and (2) CSIR-NEERI, Sivakasi.
2. RACE facility at CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur is fully developed for testing of purity of raw materials, compositions and emissions
3. RACE facility at Sivakasi (TN) developed primarily for emission testing.
4. Procurement of equipment (XRF, TGA, Bomb calorimeter, Air samplers & Chambers and other equipment) and certain laboratory furniture need to be procured
RACE facility at both locations is under the supervision of CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur.
