ISTAD Mandate
The CSIR - International S&T Affairs Directorate (CSIR-ISTAD) serves as a nodal point for international collaborations and innovation. Its functions include:
- Positioning CSIR Globally: Establishing CSIR as a key player in the international S&T landscape.
- Technology Transfer: Facilitating the transfer of CSIR knowledge and technologies, particularly to neighboring and developing countries.
- Capacity Building: Strengthening the S&T base in developing nations by offering advanced training, research, and higher education opportunities.
- Global Networking: Enhancing CSIR’s scientific and technological competitiveness through international collaborations, institutional partnerships, and joint initiatives.
- Innovation Scouting: Identifying cutting-edge global advancements in science and technology that are relevant to India and CSIR’s future R&D strategies.
- Strengthening Partnerships: Building and maintaining strong international relationships to leverage CSIR’s core expertise.
- Funding and Resource Generation: Securing international project funding to support CSIR’s research and innovation.
- Training and Development: Providing specialized training to CSIR scientists while utilizing the organization’s expertise to foster international collaboration.
