The CSIR-NEERI Delhi Zonal Centre (DZC), established in 1959, serves as a vital extension of CSIR-NEERI Headquarters, playing a pivotal role in addressing environmental challenges in the Northern Region of India, with a special focus on the Delhi-NCR area. Over the decades, DZC has evolved into a well-equipped facility with state-of-the-art laboratories, sophisticated instrumentation, and a multidisciplinary team of experts committed to providing innovative and sustainable environmental solutions. The division’s mission is to support evidence-based policymaking, foster sustainable industrial development, and address region-specific environmental issues, ultimately contributing to the vision of Atma-Nirbhar Bharat.
DZC’s core responsibilities encompass a wide spectrum of environmental research and consultancy services, including:
Ambient, indoor, and workplace air quality monitoring and modeling; compliance studies per NAAQS and CPCB guidelines; emission inventory studies; and monitoring of trace air pollutants and carbonaceous aerosols.
Comprehensive monitoring of drinking, irrigation, surface, and groundwater; microbial contamination assessment; and performance evaluation of water and wastewater treatment facilities such as ETP & CETP etc.
Municipal solid waste management, Land Use Planning, Resource Management and Allocations, soil quality assessment etc.
Supporting policy formulation through evidence-based research, environmental impact assessments, environmental Audit and compliance and risk analyses for industrial and infrastructural projects for sustainable development, engaging with government agencies etc.
